Sometimes, despite your best efforts, things just don’t go to plan and in the logistics industry, if one part of the supply chain lets you down, the consequences can be costly.
That’s what happened to our customer Supreme Freight Services in Southampton last week. 18 pallets were booked for an 8am delivery to Luton and at the last minute they were let down by their haulier, leaving them open to a large financial penalty for non-delivery.
Desperate not to default on the delivery, Adam at Supreme Freight called Acclaim for help and we had a 40ft trailer with him for collection within the hour. Matthew Robinson, who is normally office based, but holds a Class 1 licence, took the initial call from Adam and thinking on his feet, he very quickly arranged for cover to enable him to take the truck himself. All 18 pallets were safely delivered to the site in Luton by 7am the following morning – effectively a same day pallet delivery, provided at a moment’s notice!
