Acclaim Invited to Royal Naming Ceremony for Red Jet 6

Friday, April 3, 2020

There aren’t a lot of opportunities for attending prestigious events when you work in logistics, so imagine how thrilled we were to receive an invitation from our Isle of Wight partner, Red Funnel, to the Royal naming ceremony of their new cross-Solent high-speed ferry, Red Jet 6.

The team here at Acclaim were honoured to attend the event and witness first-hand the crowds of people who lined the quayside at Cowes on Monday 4th July, to see HRH The Princess Royal, naming the shiny new vessel, which has been truly born and bred on the Isle of Wight.

After receiving tenders from shipyards around the world, we think it’s great that Red Funnel stayed true to its roots and chose Shemara Refit LLP in Cowes to build the 275 capacity catamaran, which is the first of its kind to be built in the UK for 16 years! It’s a fantastic local story for the Isle of Wight and a wonderful example of the Island’s resident marine engineering skills.

Red Jet 6 is the greenest ship in Red Funnel’s fleet and boasts ground breaking levels of passenger comfort, reliability and safety.
From all at Acclaim, we just want to say congratulations to Red Funnel on the launch of its largest and most innovative high-speed vessel yet. We’re looking forward to seeing her in action!
