Our Isle of Wight freight volumes hit a record high during the summer, and to accommodate this increasing growth we’ve just taken delivery of two further custom-built, double-deck new trailers.
Specially designed for our Isle of Wight delivery service, the state-of-the-art new trailers have been built to the lesser height of 4.6m, which is tailored specifically to fit on Red Funnel Ferries’ freight decks. In order to maximise capacity without compromising the safety and security of the freight, each of the new trailers features a double-deck, negating the need to double-stack palletised freight and preventing unnecessary damages.

Due to height restrictions on the ferries, many operators are forced to use smaller trucks for their Isle of Wight shipments, and in order to fill these trucks to capacity, freight will be stacked, increasing the risk of crushing damage, and potentially jeopardising the customer’s reputation.
